Sexual Assault Volunteer Advocate Training

The Janelle Grum Family Crisis Center of East Texas provides free, confidential services to survivors of sexual violence. Caring and compassionate community members are invited to join the agency's community education and outreach.

Participants will learn the following skills:
• Emotional Support
• Crisis Intervention
• Legal Advocacy
• Support During Law Enforcement Interview
• Information on Where to Receive Help
• Referral to Legal Resources; Crime Victims Compensation, Victim Information and Notification Systems
• Guidance on the services offered at the Janelle Grum Family Crisis Center
• Support During SANE exams


The classes showcase multiple guest speakers who are all experts in their fields such as SANE Nurses, Assistant District
Attorneys, Law Enforcement Officers, Forensic Interviewers, Social Workers, Victim Advocates, Counselors, Adult Probation Officers, FBI Victim Services Advocates as well as community leaders, and Family Crisis Center staff.
